ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
FT
Start engine and run at idle for 2 minutes.
Is voltage between TP SIG test pin 89 and SIG RTN test
pin 91 at breakout box between 0.17 to 0.49 volts at any
time while slowly moving to open throttle from closed
position?
Note: An intermittent fault can cause a RetrieveIClear
Continuous DTC P0123. If this code is still present
after step
8
through step 10, go to step 20.
Key OFF.
Disconnect TP sensor connector.
Key ON, engine off.
Access TP PID.
Is TP PID less than 0.17 volt (3.43%)?

THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION
Input voltage from TP sensor is below 0.1 7 volts or above 4.60 volts, out of range when
ignition is turned on or inconsistent with MAF sensor signal.
Key OFF.
Connect TP sensor connector and PCM connector.

Return KOEO and KOtiR. If DTC PI120 is
still present.

INSPECTION
Key OFF.
Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose
wires at TP or PCM connector.
Repair or replace if necessary.
Follow direction in Action.
TP SIG shorted to VREF or SIG RTN open in
TP
sensor.
Replace TP sensor.

Check for DTC PI400 in KOEO or KOER self-test.
Is KOEO or KOER DTC PI400 present with P1124?
Visually inspect the throttle linkage and throttle plate for
binding or sticking. Verify throttle plate and linkage is at
closed throttle position. Are plate and linkage OK?

Key ON, engine off.
Access TP PID.
While slowly moving throttle frorn closed throttle position
to wide open throttle position, is TP PID reading below
0.49 volts (9.80%)?
Key OFF.
Disconnect TP sensor connector.
Key ON, engine off.

Leave TP sensor connector disconnected.
