loose wlres and mlsslng or damaged

Uslng voltmeter, connect posltlve lead to TFT crrcu~t and negat~ve

lead to SIG RTN clrcult of transm~ss~on vehrcle harness connector
Set voltmeter to 20-volt scale
Key ON, englne OFF

Is voltage between 4 75 and 5 25 volts?

D~sconnect PCM and Install 104 pln breakout box (BOB)
Measure res~stance between test pin 37 at BOB and appropr~ate
slgnal p ~ n at transmrsslon connector
Measure res~stance between test plns 91 at BOB and approprrate
s~gnal prns at transmlss~on connector
Are both resrstances less than 5 ohms?

Drsconnect PCM and Install 104-p~n breakout box (BOB)
Measure res~stance between test pln 37 and test plns 71197 at
BOB
Measure res~stance between test pins 37 and chass~s ground, test
(
plns 51.76,77, 103, and 91
Are res~stances greater than 10,000 ohms?

Note
Be sure trans tester solenoid select switch is in the OHMS
CHECK position or damage to ohmmeter may result.

Set MODE switch to BENCH

Rotate solenold select swltch to OHMS CHECK

Connect posltrve lead of ohmmeter to +TFT jack and negatrve
) lead to - TFT jack
Note
While performing the following tests, observe resistances.
DTC PO713 (open circuit) is set if resistance is above
869K
ohms. DTC PO712 (short circuit) is set if resistance is
1
below 597K ohms.
Perform the following tests
Test 1 Record reslstance Refer to the TFT sensor res~stance
chart followtng t h ~ s test
Test 2 Check for rnterrn~ttent short or open If resrstance was
between 0 8K and

O O K ohms, perform the follow~ng test
If transmlsslon

cold, run transm~ssron to warm ~t If transmls-
sron

warm, allow transmlsslon to cool
Check TFT sensor reslstance again
Compare resrstance w ~ t h l n ~ t ~ a l
