Is air leakage felt or heard at intake air system
components while racing engine to higher speed?
Is engine compression correct?
Yes
Go to next step
Check for cause

For 2.3L: Section B1
For 3.OL: Section 8 2
For 4.OL: Section 8 3

If vehicle has MT, go to next step.
Inspect automatic transmission (AT vehicles only).
