About this guide

The objective of this SmartWare Command Configuration Guide is to provide information concerning the syn-
tax and usage of the command set. The aim is to enable you to be able to consult a more detailed command
description than is given in the Software Configuration Guide . For hardware configuration information refer to
the getting started guide that came with your SmartNode systems .

Audience

This guide is intended for the following users:
System administrators who are responsible for installing and configuring networking equipment and who
are familiar with the SmartNode.
System administrators with a basic networking background and experience, but who might not be familiar
with the SmartNode.
Operators
Installers
Maintenance technicians

How to read this guide

SmartWare is a complex and multifaceted operating system running on your SmartNode device. Without the
necessary theoretical background you will not be able to understand and consequently use all the features avail-
able. Therefore we recommend reading at least the chapters listed below to get a general idea about SmartWare
and the philosophy of contexts used for IP and circuit switching related configuration.
