Routing Engine Ports

The CIP has two sets of ports (see Figure 35 on page 57) that you use to connect the

Routing Engines to external management devices. The upper set of ports, labeled

connects to the Routing Engine in slot

to the Routing Engine in slot

to configure the router.

Each set includes the following ports:

—Connects the Routing Engine through an Ethernet connection to a

management LAN (or any other device that plugs into an Ethernet connection) for

out-of-band management. The port uses an autosensing RJ-45 connector to support

both 10- and 100-Mbps connections. Two small LEDs on the left edge of the port
