• The emergency release lever -arrow- must move easily and
can be moved up and down.
Note
If will be difficult to move emergency release lever -arrow- if

the bushings are installed incorrectly.
If the emergency release lever is difficult to move, ignition key

removal lock will not work.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Coat the bearings and the sliding surfaces with Polycarbamide
Grease - G 052 142 A2- .
– Install the shift gate. Refer to
⇒ "4.4 Shift Gate, Removing and Installing", page 48

Removing
– Remove the frame with the Multimedia System Control Head
- E380- -1-. Refer to ⇒ Body Interior; Rep. Gr. 68 ; Center
Console .
– Disconnect the connector -1-.
– Remove the noise insulation -2-.
– Remove the front ashtray/front storage compartment. Refer to
⇒ Body Interior; Rep. Gr. 68 ; Storage Compartments and
Covers .
