– If this happens, pull the torque converter out 5 mm. This will
correct the position of the sealing lip -arrow-.
– Then push the torque converter all the way into the transmis‐
sion.
Installation Dimension
The converter is properly installed when the distance between the
contact surfaces at the converter threaded holes and the torque
converter bell housing contact surface is the dimension -a-.
• Dimension -a- = 19 mm ± 1 mm
– Always use new bolts to attach the torque converter to the
drive plate. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
Note the following when installing the transmission.
Caution
Danger of causing damage to the torque converter drive plate
or the ATF pump.
♦ Before and during fastening the engine/transmission
flange bolts, check that the torque converter can still be
turned behind the drive plate. If the converter still does not
turn, then assume it is installed incorrectly.

Note
Make sure the cover -2- for the converter bell housing is installed.
The cover prevents dust and dirt from getting into the torque con‐
verter housing and the torque converter seal from leaking.
