ATF Level, Checking and Correcting
Note
The ATF level is checked at the ATF check hole.
The ATF level is correct if a small amount of fluid drips out of
the check hole (this is normal because the fluid expands as it
heats up) between 35 ° and 45 °C (95 ° and 113 °F) (for hot
countries 50 °C (122 °F)).
– Drive the vehicle onto a 4-column hoist or over a service pit so
that it is absolutely level.
– Remove the rear noise insulation -2-. Refer to ⇒ Body Exte‐
rior; Rep. Gr. 66 ; Underbody Trim Panels .
– Start the engine and let it run at idle.
– With engine idling depress the brake pedal and shift the se‐
lector lever through all the selector lever positions leaving the
selector lever at least 10 seconds in each position.
– Place the Used Oil Collection And Extraction Unit -
SMN372500- under the transmission.
Test Temperature 35 ° to 45 °C (95 ° to 113 °F)
– Remove the plug -1- in the ATF pan for checking the ATF level.
