– If missing, Insert the two locking tabs -A- into the selector
mechanism.
– Place the selector mechanism function unit on the lower sec‐
tion.
Note
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
– Insert center console bracket by tilting function unit at the
same time.
– Install the bolts -arrows-.
– Connect the connector -1-.
– Install the center console bracket. Refer to ⇒ Body Interior;
Rep. Gr. 68 ; Center Console .
– Install the noise insulation -2- in the shift housing.
– Insert the connector -1- into the Selector Lever Sensor System
Control Module - J587- with Tiptronic Switch - F189- and let it
lock into place.
– Install the front ashtray or front storage compartment. Refer to
⇒ Body Interior; Rep. Gr. 68 ; Storage Compartments and
Covers .
– Install the frame with the Multimedia System Control Head -
E380- . Refer to ⇒ Body Interior; Rep. Gr. 68 ; Center
Console .
– Install the handle on the selector lever. Refer to
⇒ "3.2 Selector Lever Handle, Removing and Installing", page
33 .
– Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to
⇒ "5.3 Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting", page 64
– Check the selector mechanism. Refer to
⇒ "2.2 Gearshift Mechanism, Checking", page 27
