3.8 Functions that require a license
You require a memory card with a license key for function packages that require a license.
The function packages requiring a license are released by inserting the memory card with the
license key into a converter. The function packages are no longer released if the card is
removed from the converter.
A "Certificate of License" (abbreviated, CoL) belongs to each license key as proof that you own
the license.
Properties of the license key
● The license key is permanently assigned to a memory card.
● A license key cannot be transferred
Assigning a license key to a memory card
A license key can only be assigned to a SINAMICS memory card.
You have the following options of assigning a license key to a memory card:
● You order a license together with a memory card.
You receive a memory card with the license key and a Certificate of License.
● Proceed as follows if your converter works with a memory card that you wish to assign a
license to:
– You purchase a Certificate of License.
– With the Certificate of License, using the "WEB License Manager" you generate a
