Safety functions integrated in the drive

In comparison to standard drive functions, safety functions (Safety Integrated Functions) have
an especially low error rate. Performance Level (PL) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) of the
corresponding standards are a measure of the error rate.
As a consequence, the safety functions are suitable for use in safety-related applications to
minimize risk. An application is safety-related if the risk analysis of the machine or the system
indicates a special hazard potential in the application.
Safety Integrated ("drive-integrated") means that the safety functions are integrated in the drive
and can be executed without requiring additional external components.
Conformity
The Safety Integrated Functions comply with:
● Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 according to DIN EN 61508
● Category 3 according to DIN EN ISO 13849‑1
● Performance level (PL) d according to DIN EN ISO 13849-1
The Safety Integrated Functions correspond to functions according to EN 61800‑5‑2.
PFH values
The probability of failure of safety functions must be specified in the form of a PFH value
(Probability of Failure per Hour) according to IEC 61508, IEC 62061 and DIN EN ISO 13849-1.
The PFH value of a safety function depends on the safety concept of the drive unit and its
hardware configuration, as well as on the PFH values of other components used for this safety
function.
