Changing the Oil
(4HK1 Engine model)
1. Clean around the oil filler cap so
that foreign matter does not enter.
Remove the oil filler cap.
2. Place a container for receiving the oil
beneath the oil pan and the oil filter.
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug to
discharge the oil into the container.
ADVICE
• Drained oil must be disposed of in a
method conforming to the regulatory
requirements in your country.
4. Use the special oil filter wrench to
remove the oil filter.
5. Lightly coat the gasket of the new oil
filter with clean engine oil.
6. Install the new oil filter. After the filter
gasket comes in contact with the
surface to which it will be attached,
use the special oil filter wrench and
tighten it by 1 1/4 (one and a quarter)
turns.
ADVICE
• When installing the oil filter, make
sure the gasket is not caught in the
screw threads. This could cause oil
leaks.
