6.9 SELT Test Screen

Click Diagnostic > SELT Test in the navigation panel to display this screen. Use this screen to
perform a SELT (Single End Loop Test) on a port to check the distance to the subscriber's location.
Not all line cards support the SELT test.
Note: The port must have an open loop. There cannot be a DSL device, phone, fax
machine or other device connected to the subscriber's end of the telephone line.

DESCRIPTION
Enter the index number of a Link Trace Message (LTM) packet and click the Get Linktrace Data
button to see the detailed test result.
Enter the index number of a Link Trace Response (LTR) packet and click the Get Linktrace
Data button to see the detailed test result.
Click this to display detailed results of the test.
DESCRIPTION
Select slot and port numbers from the Slot (not all cards support the SELT test) and Port drop-
down list boxes and click Set SELT Port to perform a Single End Loop Test (SELT) on the
specified port. This test checks the distance to the subscriber's location.
The SELT takes at least fifteen seconds. To check the status of the SELT or to look at the results
when the SELT is complete, select a port number from the Port drop-down list box and click Get
SELT Data. The results tell you what gauge of telephone wire is connected to the port and the
approximate length of the line.
