When the battery pack is within five minutes of becoming
dead, the LOW LED on the keypad area of aurora
red. You must now either fit new standard batteries or
charge the nickel-cadmium batteries.
If the battery power falls to a level which is insufficient to
power the tester reliably, the tester clears any active
connections and automatically switches itself off.
Configuration values, however, are retained in nonvolatile
memory.

Recharging the Battery Packs

Only the rechargeable nickel cadmium battery packs
supplied with aurora
• Check that the battery pack is completely discharged.
All nickel-cadmium cells exhibit a 'memory'. This
means that if a partially discharged battery is recharged,
some of the capacity of the battery is lost. For this
reason we recommend that battery packs are
discharged completely before recharging. Refer to the
next section for a convenient method of discharging a
battery pack.
