Frame Relay Network:
This is the medium through which data traverses the
network. It typically consists of Frame Relay switches.

Equipment Interface Reference Points

Equipment in the Frame Relay network has its own interface
classifications which are as follows:
User to Network Interface (UNI):
Specifies the connection between user DTE and a
network.
Network to Network Interface (NNI):
Specifies the connection between two networks.
The interfaces are shown in the following diagram:

Frames

The 'frame' in Frame Relay is the unit in which
information is held and transported across the network.
Frame Relay uses a simple frame structure called the
LAPD (Link Access Protocol for the D channel). This
contains user data and address information, used to route
the frame, and control information for managing
congestion.
