Cleaning the printing system — overview
Introduction
This section shows you how often to clean the different components and how to carry
out this cleaning.
Caution: Please observe the following safety directives when cleaning:
Printing system could start unexpectedly.
Before cleaning, ensure that the printing system is in the 'Stop' status and
that the printing system is not being remotely controlled by another
operator panel.
There can be a high build-up of static charge when vacuuming the toner
spill.
Always use an industrial vacuum cleaner with a grounded suction tube,
rubber nozzle and filter set for fine dust. For larger toner quantities, the
industrial vacuum cleaner must be explosion-proof.
You could slip on spilled toner or developer.
Clean up spilled toner or developer immediately from the floor.
Attention: Please observe the following safety directives when cleaning:
Possibility of damage to the printing system if the wrong cleaning agents or
materials are used.
Only use the prescribed cleaning agents and cleaning devices (see
agents and devices, cleaning intervals on page
manufacturer's safety directives. Do not use chemical solvents or other
aggressive cleaning agents.
Spilled toner is soiled.
Re-using spilled toner causes problems in printing. Never use spilled toner for
printing.
