Synchronization and positioning

Synchronization and positioning - overview

Definition
Synchronization is the alignment of a complete printing system that consists of
at least two printing systems connected in succession. It ensures that the front and
back pages to be printed are properly aligned during the print job.
Positioning means that the print image is in the right place on each page.
Synchronization of printing systems into a complete printing system
Configurations should be made in the 'Configuration' -> 'Printing system' ->
'Operating mode' menu when operating more than one printing system as one
complete printing system.
[79]
Initial synchronization
After the configuration is complete, the initial synchronization is carried out auto-
matically. This prints a synchronization mark on one or more of the set page(s) for
the print image to be created. The synchronization mark is used to properly align
the front and back pages.
[80]
Synchronization monitoring
The continual synchronization is monitored during the print job using the follow-
ing methods:
Electronic monitoring of page assignment The ID numbers for the print job's
respective pages are continually checked by the software.
Optical monitoring of page assignment This mode optically monitors the prop-
er assignment of the print pages using the synchronization marks printed on the
paper. It checks that the front and back pages belonging together have the same
synchronization marks. In this case, you should distinguish between pinfeed
paper (paper with guide holes or perforated) or pinless paper (paper without
guide holes or unperforated).
