Programmable fault:
Supply phase loss
3180
Charge relay lost
Cause
Short-circuit in motor cable(s)
or motor
Excessive IGBT junction to
case temperature. This fault
protects the IGBT(s) and can
be activated by a short circuit
in the motor cable.
AC phase current difference
between parallel-connected
inverter modules is excessive.
Total earth leakage of inverter
modules is excessive.
Intermediate circuit DC voltage
is oscillating due to missing
31.21
input power line phase or
blown fuse.
No acknowledgment received
from charge relay.
What to do
Check motor and motor cable for cabling
errors.
Check that parameter
99.10 Motor
nominal power
is set correctly.
Check there are no power factor
correction capacitors or surge absorbers
in motor cable.
Check the auxiliary code (format XXXY
YYZZ). With parallel-connected inverter
modules, "Y YY" specifies through which
BCU control unit channel the fault was
received. "ZZ" indicates the location of
the short circuit (0: No detailed
information available, 1: Upper branch of
U-phase, 2: Lower branch of U-phase, 4:
Upper branch of V-phase, 8: Lower
branch of V-phase, 10: Upper branch of
W-phase, 20: Lower branch of W-phase,
other: combinations of the above).
After correcting the cause of the fault,
reboot the control unit (using parameter
96.08 Control board
boot) or by cycling
power.
Check motor cable.
Check ambient conditions.
Check air flow and fan operation.
Check heatsink fins for dust pick-up.
Check motor power against drive power.
Check motor cabling.
Check there are no power factor
correction capacitors or surge absorbers
in motor cable.
Check the auxiliary code (format XXXY
YYZZ). "XXX" specifies the source of the
first error (see "YYY"). "YYY" specifies
the module through which BCU control
unit channel the fault was received (1:
Channel 1, 2: Channel 2, 4: Channel 3,
8: Channel 4, ..., 800: Channel 12,
other: combinations of the above). "ZZ"
indicates the phase (1: U, 2: V, 3: W).
Check there are no power factor
correction capacitors or surge absorbers
in motor cable.
Measure insulation resistances of motor
cables and motor.
Contact your local ABB representative.
Check input power line fuses.
Check for loose power cable
connections.
Check for input power supply imbalance.
