General Information

Repair, test, and maintenance protocols for the MedPlus TotalAlert® Alarm
Network are in the following sections.

Repair

Do not use a unit that is not functioning properly until all necessary repairs have
been made. Test the unit to ensure that it is functioning in accordance with the
manufacturer's published specifications according to the NFPA 99 standard or
CSA Z305.1-92 code, in addition to all of the codes and standards for your juris-
diction and facility.
To ensure full reliability, have all maintenance and testing done by a
BeaconMedæs Service Representative. If this cannot be done, maintenance and
testing of those parts discussed in this chapter may be undertaken by a compe-
tent, trained individual having experience in the repair of devices of this nature.
Shock Hazard:
Turn off the power to the alarm, and leave it off during the installation of
any component or sub-assembly. Failure to do so could result in personal
injury or equipment damage.
Shock Hazard:
No repair should ever be attempted by anyone not having experience in
the repair of devices of this nature. Failure to follow proper repair proce-
dures can result in serious injury.
WARNING:
After the alarm is completely installed, test for cross-connections in accor-
dance with the latest edition of the NFPA 99 standard or
CSA Z305.1-92 code dictated by the authority having jurisdiction.
Misconnection of medical gas or vacuum can result in serious or fatal
injury to patients.
