Chapter 1: Introduction

Area Alarm

The Area Alarm Modules provide a digital display of the actual pressure or vacu-
um being monitored (see figure 1-12 on page 1–30).
In addition to the digital display, separate Normal, High, and Low LED indica-
tors are on each module: a green LED is used for Normal condition, and red
LEDs are used for High and Low alarm conditions. Each module also has its own
Test and Silence keys. The audible alarm is mounted on either the Area Alarm
Connector P.C. Board or the Network Communications Board.
Pressing the Increment key displays the high pressure setpoint, and pressing the
Decrement key displays the low pressure setpoint.
The Area Alarm Modules are configured at the factory for a specific type of gas
or vacuum and with either English or metric units of measure, specified by the
customer. The High and Low setpoints for the Area Alarm Modules are pre-set
according to NFPA 99 standards (see table 1-4 on page 1–31). However, the set-
points can be adjusted in the field.
