Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the ECM 34P (Black) connector and
the rear VSS 3P (Black) connector.
Check for continuity at the Pink/green wire
between the main harness side connectors.
Is there continuity7
NO - Open in wire between the ECM and rear
V55
YES - GO TO STEP 5.
5. Rear VSS Installation Condition
Check installation condition of the rear VSS and
sensor bracket.
Is if installed certainly?
NO - Install properly or replace the faulty
part.
YES - GO TO STEP 6.
6. Wire Harness Continuity Inspection

Disconnect the rear VSS 3P (Black) connector , - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ,

and ECM 34P (Black) connector.
Check for continuity between each connector
terminals.
Is there continuity?
NO _ . Open or short circuit in Black/orange
wire
• Open or short circuit in Green/blue
wire
YES - GO TO STEP 7.
7. System Failure Reproduction
Connect all connectors.
Test-drive the vehicle under the following condi-
tions:
- Gearshift lever in D ran ge
- Mode select switch at ESP/1 st
- Driving for 2 seconds or more at over 7 mph
of vehicle speed
Is th" problem code blink indicated?
NO _ . No problem (Temporary fai lure)
• Erase t he problem code
YES - Faulty ECM - After replacement, per-
form initial setting procedure.
