IGNITION SYSTEM
IGNITION TIMING
Remove the right center mudguard (page 3-11),
Start the engine and warm it up to operating tem-
perature.
Stop the engine and rem ove the timing hole cap
from the rear crankcase cover.
Connect the timing light and tachometer.
Start the engine, let it idle (1,400 rpm) and check the
ignitio n timing.
TIMING LIGHT
The ignition timing is correct if the -P mark on the

flywheel aligns with the index mark on the rear INDEX MARK
crankcase cover at idle.
Increase the engine speed and make sure the "F"
mark begins to move.
Coat

new O-ring with o il and install it onto the tim-

ing hole cap.
Install the timing hole cap and tighten it t o the spec-
ified torque.
TORQUE: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m . 7 Ibf·ft )
Install the right cen ter mudguard (page 3-11).
