DRIVE/NEUTRAL/REVERSE SWITCH
INSPECTION

the swncnes.

Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the ECM 34P (Black) connector.
Check for continuity between each gear position
switch wire terminal of the ECM connector and
ground.
There should be continuity only at the terminals that
correspond to the gear positions shown below, and
there should be no continuity at the other terminals.
- D: Light blue/white
- N: light green
- R: Gray
If the continuity is abnormal, disconnect each con-
nector from each switch, and check for continuity
between each terminal and ground in the same
manner as the previous step .
• If the continuity at the ECM is abnormal and con-
tinuity at the each connector is normal, check for
an open or short circuit, or loose or poor connec-
tor contact.
• If the both continuities are abnormal, replace
each switch.
REPLACEMEMT
Remove the left engine cover (page 7-4).
Disconnect each switch connector from the switch.
Remove the gear position switches from the rear
crankcase cover.
Install each switch in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten the switch to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 13 N·m (1.3 kgf·m , 9 IbUt)
