TECHNICAL FEATURE
STRUCTURE/FUNCTION
The GPS for the TRX400FGA consists of the combination meter and
the
GPS receiver.
The
GPS receiver continuously computes the latitude and longitude and transfers the positioning data
to
the combination
meter.
The combination meter
recognizes
the exact current vehicle position, and indica tes the travel direction and
the
direction to the waypoint.
If
the GPS receiver can not track more than three
satellites,
the GPS can not measure for the proper position and the navi-
gation system and compass
will
nOI function property.
The
GPS receiver
continuously repeats calculation of
the
latitude and longitude when the
ignition
switch
is
in
the
ON
posi.
l
oion.
As
a
result,
the start-up time of the positioning alter the ignition
switch
is turned
to
the
ON position
varies depend-
ing on when the ignition switch was turned to
the
OFF position,
if
the battery was removed and
the distance
the vehicle
was
transported
with the
ignition
switch in the OFF position.
There
are three different
times
as
follows;
Hot start
When turning the ignition switch ON within 2 hours from turning
OFF,
the position fix will complete in about 25 sec-
onds.
Warm start
When turning the ignition switch ON over
2
hours after
turning
OFF, the
position
fix will complete
in
about
2
minutes.
Cold start
The position fix will complete within about
8
minutes after the following situations;
- When
turning
the ignition switch ON over 1 month after turning OFF
- When transporting
the
vehicle with the ignition switch OFF for over
100
km
- When the battery is disconnected
If the combination meter
det
ects the communication error
wit
h the GPS receiver,
-
GPS"
indicator will blink and all indica-
tions
related
GPS will light
off.
NAVIGATION
SYSTEM
This system indicates the direction toward the waypoint and direct-path distance.
COMPASS
The
compass indicates the vehicle
heading.
As the direction of travel is calculated by using
the
previous and present posi-
tioning
data,
the ignition switch must be turned ON position and the vehicle must be moving at least
1
mph for the com-
pass
to function.
AUTOMATIC
CLOCK ADJUSTMENT
The digital clock in the
TRX400FGA
combination
meter
has a function of automatic adjustment when satellite status
is
30
Navigation
.
In
the state of GPS time
acquisition,
the digital clock of display will
be
adjusted by adjusting the last digit of minute on the
basic of UT (Universal
Time,
formerly referred to as Greenwich Mean
Time).
The automatic clock adjustment mechanism works only when the correction
range
extends
i
5
minutes, and
the
adjust-
ment mechanism will not work when the
range
exceeds
5
minutes or when the vehicle moves across
the
time difference
zone.
