13.Make sure that the gearshift lever is in the neu-
tral position, the mode select switch is "ESp· and
the 2WD/4WD select switch is "2WO", then turn
the ignition switch OFF.
14. Turn the ignition switch ON while pushing the
UP and DOWN shift switches (ESP shift switches)

I S.Check that "N" blinks at the gear position indica-
tor.
16.lmmediately release both the UP and DOWN shift
switches, then push the shift switches in the
order of UP, UP, DOWN, and DOWN (do not hold
GEARSHIFT LEVER

gear position indicator.
lS.Start the engine and move the gear shift lever to
the drive position.
19.Push the
UP
shift switch 4 times to select the 5th
speed. Check that the indicator shows "5" and .....
blinking alternately.
20.Move the Ihronle lever slowly and control the
wheel speed to keep 20·22 mph indica ted in the
speed meter.
When the ESP ratio sening Is complete, the gear
position indicator changes from alternate blink·
ing of "5" and "-" to the constant display of "5".
21 .Reduce the wheel speed slowly. Stop the rear
wheel hubs with the brake; move the shift lever to
the neutral position and turn the ignition switch OFF.
22.lnstall the wheels and torque the wheel nuts
properly (page' 5-6).
23.Test·ride the vehicle and check for engine condi-
tion and automatic transm ission operation In ell
modes, AT, ESP, 2WD, and 4WD.
