LEVEL CHECK
NOTE:
• Check the oil level aher starting the engine and
allowing the oil to circulate th rough the engine
thoroughly. It is especially important on dry
sump engine, due to the comparatively large vol-
ume of oil.
• Do not snap the throttle whi le idling or the oil
level reading will be inaccurate.
Place the vehicle on a level ground.
Start the engi ne and let it idle for 3 - 5 minutes.
Stop the engine.
After a minute, remove the dipstick and wipe it
clean .
Check the oil level by inserting the dipstick into the
engine without screwing it in.
The engine contains a sufficient amount of oil if the
oil level is between the upper and lower level marks
on the dipstick.
If the oil level is near or below the lower level mark,
remove the oil filler cap, and add the recommended
engine oil up to the upper level mark.
RECOMMENDED ENGINE
Oil:
Pro Honda GN4 or HP4 (without molybdenum
additives)4-stroke oil (U.S.A. and Canada), or
Honda 4 -stroke oil (Canada only) or equivalent
motor oil
API service cla ssification: SG or higher, except
oils labeled as energy conserving on the circular
API service label
JASO T 903 standard: MA
Viscosity; SAE 10W-40
