Final Drive Removal - Honda Fourtrax Rancher AT 2004 Service Manual

BEARING REPLACEMENT
Remove the dust seal and drive the axle bearing out
of the axle housing.
Drive a new the bear ing i nto the axle housing with
the sealed side f aCing down until the depth from the
housing edge is 11 .0 - 11.5 mm (0.43 - 0.45 in)

Oil seal driver attachment
Pilot, 32 x 50 mm

Apply grease to a new dust seal lips.
Install the dust seal with the metal plate side facing
up until it is flush with the housing end.

FINAL DRIVE REMOVAL

Remo ve the rear axle (page 18-7)
Drain the final gear case oil (page 4- 15).
Remove the final gear case right mounting bolts.

Disconnect the breather hoses from the final gear r: B = R =E =A =T=H=cE=R=H=O=-=S=E=Sc--------- - - - - ,
case.
Remove the f inal gear case front mounting bolts,
skid plate stay and final gear case assembly from
the swingarm.
After '04.
Disconnect the breather hose from the final gear
case.
Remove the final gear case front mounting bolts
and final gear case assembly from the swingarm.
STAY ('04 ONLY) BOLTS
