Causes
Surface sealing defective
(e.g. on cover, flange).
Damage in transit (e.g. hairline
cracks).
Incorrect oil level for the mount-
ing position used and / or incor-
rect venting position.
Frequent cold starts during
which the oil foams up.
Motor fan cover and / or gearbox
very dirty.
Incorrect oil level for the mount-
ing position being used.
Incorrect oil being used (e.g.
incorrect viscosity).
Oil is too old.
Excessive bearing play and / or
bearing defective.
Coolant temperature outside the
permissible range.
Force flow interrupted by break-
age in gearbox.
Incorrect oil level for the mount-
ing position being used.
Incorrect oil being used (e.g.
incorrect viscosity).
Excessive external load on the
drive input and output.
Motor brake is not released.
Flexible elements worn (e.g. on
couplings).
Positive connection disrupted by
overload.
Belt tension too low (for belt drive).
11.3 Specific data gearbox
Remedy
Reseal.
Check the gearbox for damage in transit.
Check the venting position, the mounting
position (Page 482) and the oil level
(Page 469).
Call Technical Support.
Clean the fan cover and surface of the geared
motor (Page 395).
Check the mounting position (Page 482) and
the oil level (Page 469).
Checking the oil quality (Page 472).
Check the date of last oil change. If required,
change the oil (Page 469).
Check the bearing and replace if necessary.
Adjust the cooling air to the appropriate tem-
perature.
Call Technical Support.
Check the mounting position (Page 482) and
the oil level (Page 469).
Checking the oil quality (Page 472).
Check the load against rated data (you might
need to correct the belt tension, for example).
Check circuit / connection of brake. Check
brake for wear and readjust if necessary.
Replace flexible elements.
Call Technical Support.
Check the belt tension and replace belt if
necessary.
