Symptom:

LOW BEAM RELAY COIL SHORT TO VOLTAGE

INTERMITTENT CONDITION
HEADLAMP RELAY
HEADLAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT
BODY CONTROL MODULE
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , clear the current Body Control Module DTC's.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition on.
Turn the Low Beams ON.
With the DRBIII , read the current Body Control Module DTC's.
Does the DRBIII display: Low Beam Relay Coil Shorted to Voltage?
Yes → Go To 2
→ The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present.
No

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Headlamp Relay from the Power Distribution Center.
Substitute the original Headlamp Relay with a known good relay.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , clear the current Body Control Module DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Turn the Low Beam Headlamps ON.
With the DRBIII , read the current Body Control Module DTC's.
Does the DRBIII display: Low Beam Relay Coil Shorted to Voltage?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Replace the original Headlamp Relay.
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Remove the Headlamp Relay from the Power Distribution Center.
Turn the ignition On.
Measure the voltage of the Headlamp Relay Control circuit at the relay.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes → Repair the Headlamp Relay Control circuit for a short to voltage.
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent
condition.

Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
