STARTING
*NO CRANK CONDITION —
TEST

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Starter Relay.
Ignition on, engine not running.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the (F45) Fused Ignition Switch
Output circuit terminal in the PDC.
While observing 12-volt test light, push the Push Button Starter Switch in the start
position.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes → Repair the open or short to ground in the (F45) Fused Ignition
→ Go To 9
No

WARNING: The Parking Brake must be on and the Transmission must be in
neutral.
WARNING: WHEN THE ENGINE IS OPERATING, DO NOT STAND IN A
DIRECT LINE WITH THE FAN. DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS NEAR THE
PULLEYS, BELTS OR FAN. DO NOT WEAR LOOSE CLOTHING.
Briefly connect a jumper wire between (A107) Fused B+ circuit and the (T40) Starter
Relay Output circuit at the PDC.
Did the Starter Motor crank the engine?
Yes → Go To 10
→ Go To 11
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Measure the resistance in the (K90) Starter Relay Control circuit from the Relay
terminal and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Replace the Starter Motor Relay.
→ Repair the open in the (K90) Starter Relay Control circuit.
No

Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the (A107) Fused B+ circuit at
the Starter Relay terminal.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes → Go To 12
→ Repair the open or short to ground in the (A107) Fused B+ circuit.
No

Disconnect the Starter Relay Output connector from the Starter Solenoid.
Measure the resistance of the (T40) Starter Relay Output circuit from the Relay to
the Solenoid harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 13
→ Repair the open in the (T40) Starter Relay Output circuit.
No
Continued
ACTION
Switch Output circuit between the Relay and the Clutch Interlock
Switch.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
Inspect related fuses and repair as necessary.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
