VEHICLE THEFT/SECURITY
Symptom:

*ALARM TRIPS ON ITS OWN

VTSS LAST CAUSE DISPLAYED ON DRBIII
DOOR OR DECKLID AJAR CIRCUIT
HOOD AJAR CIRCUIT
IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT
INTERMITTENT CONDITION

With the DRBIII , under Inputs/Outputs read the Last VTSS Cause status.
Select what DRBIII displayed.
Hood
Driver or Pass Door or Decklid
Ignition
None

Ensure Hood is aligned and closes properly.
Remove the ignition key (but keep in hand).
Lock the vehicle and close doors, decklid and hood.
Allow the VTSS to arm.
Attempt to trip alarm by lightly tapping on hood near ajar switch to simulate wind
and noise vibration.
Did the VTSS trip to the alarming state?
Yes → Replace the hood ajar switch.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Go To 2
Using the DRBIII monitor the ajar circuit indicated for intermit-
tent problems while manual operating the ajar switch. Also,
inspect related wiring. Adjust, repair or replace as necessary.
Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST - 1A.
Advise customer that the alarm must be disarmed prior to turning
the ignition on. Inspect wiring for intermittent problems or after
market add on that may cause this condition. Repair or replace as
necessary.
