Symptom:

DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH STUCK

When Monitored and Set Condition:
DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH STUCK
When Monitored: At all times when battery power is supplied to the Body Control
Module.
Set Condition: When the BCM senses a driver exterior door handle switch input on the
Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch Sense circuit for over 10 seconds, this code will set.
DTC PRESENT
DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH SHORTED
DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
BODY CONTROL MODULE - DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT
SHORTED
TEST
1 NOTE: When this code is present, the VTSS indicator will stay on solid during the
arming process.
With the DRBIII , record and erase DTC's.
Cycle the ignition switch from ON to OFF to ON.
With the DRBIII , read DTC's.
Lower the driver door window.
Remove the key and operate the Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch several times
while monitoring the DRBIII .
Wait 10 seconds.
Does the DRBIII display DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH STUCK?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Check the switch for a binding condition and replace if necessary.
No
2 Disconnect the Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch connector.
With the DRBIII in Sensors, read the DRV DOOR ENTRY voltage.
Is the voltage above 4.75 volts?
Yes → Replace the Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch.
→ Go To 3
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
