Symptom:
PASSENGER/DRIVER DOOR UNLATCH RETURN SHORT TO
GROUND
When Monitored and Set Condition:

PASSENGER/DRIVER DOOR UNLATCH RETURN SHORT TO GROUND

When Monitored: At all times when battery power is supplied to the Body Control
Module.
Set Condition: When the BCM senses an over current draw condition on the Passenger
or Driver Door Unlatch Return circuits for over 125 milliseconds during an unlatch return
action. The BCM supplies 12 volts on this circuit after an unlatch to reverse the motor and
prepare it for the next unlatch action.
DTC PRESENT
BODY CONTROL MODULE - PASSENGER/DRIVER UNLATCH RETURN SHORTED TO GROUND
DRIVER DOOR UNLATCH RETURN WIRE SHORT TO GROUND
PASSENGER DOOR UNLATCH RETURN WIRE SHORT TO GROUND
DRIVER DOOR LATCH MOTOR - SHORT TO GROUND
PASSENGER DOOR LATCH MOTOR - SHORT TO GROUND
TEST

With the DRBIII , record and erase DTC's.
With the DRBIII , read DTC's.
Try to open and close the driver door several times while monitoring the DRBIII .
Does the DRBIII
SHORTED TO GROUND?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the

Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Passenger Door Unlatch Return
circuit.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Driver Door Unlatch Return circuit.
Is the resistance below 1000 ohms on either circuit?
Yes - Passenger Door Unlatch Return.
Yes - Driver Door Unlatch Return
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
No
