POWER WINDOWS
PASSENGER WINDOW HALL EFFECT FAILURE —
TEST

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , actuate the Passenger Window Down and Up..
Does the Passenger Window go Up and Down?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Go To 6
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Window Motor connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Ground circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Repair the Window Hall Effect Ground circuit for an open.
No

Disconnect the Window Motor connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII in Inputs/Outputs, read the PASS WINDOW HALL state.
While observing the DRBIII , momentarily connect and disconnect a jumper wire
between the Passenger Window Hall Signal circuit and the Ground circuit.
Does the DRBIII display toggle between OPEN and CLOSED?
Yes → Replace the Window Motor.
→ Go To 5
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Window Motor connector.
Disconnect the BCM C3 harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Passenger Window Hall Signal circuit between the
Motor connector and the BCM C3 connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Replace the Body Control Module.
→ Repair the Passenger Window Hall Signal circuit for an open.
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Window Motor connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Connect a 12-volt test light between the Passenger Window Up Relay Output and the
Passenger Window Down Relay Output circuits in the motor connector.
Press the Passenger Window Switch UP and DOWN.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is in either position?
Yes → Replace the Passenger Power Window Motor.
→ Go To 7
No
