This command is used to specify the type of authentication used in RIP version 2 packets. Use the no
command to revert to the default setting.
ip rip authentication mode text
no ip rip authentication mode
Parameters
None.
Default
By default, this option is disabled.
Command Mode
Interface Configuration Mode.
Command Default Level
Level: 12.
Usage Guideline
RIP version 1 does not support authentication. This command only takes effect for RIP version 2.
Example
This example shows how to enable the authentication at interface VLAN 2.
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface vlan2
Switch(config-if)# ip rip authentication mode text
Switch(config-if)#

This command is used to specify a RIP version to receive on an interface basis. Use the no form of the
command to revert to the default setting.
ip rip receive version [1] [2]
no ip rip receive version
