Check the Hydraulic Tank Return
Filter Condition Indicator
Maintaining the hydraulic tank return filter in good
condition is essential to good system performance
and safe machine operation. The filter condition
indicator will show when the hydraulic flow is
bypassing a clogged filter. If the filter is not
frequently checked and replaced, impurities
will remain in the hydraulic system and cause
component damage.
Perform this procedure with the
engine running.
1 Start the engine from the platform controls.
2 Move the engine idle speed select switch to
high idle (rabbit symbol).

3 Inspect the filter condition indicator.

Result: The filter should be operating with the
plunger in the green area. If the display shows
the plunger in the red area , this indicates that
the hydraulic filter is being bypassed and the
filter should be replaced. See B-22, Replace the
Hydraulic Tank Return Filter.
