Check and Adjust the
Engine RPM
Maintaining the engine rpm at the proper setting for
both low and high idle is essential to good engine
performance and service life. The machine will not
operate properly if the rpm is incorrect and
continued use may cause component damage.
Gasoline/LPG Models:
The engine rpm is controlled by
the ECM and can only be adjusted
by re-programming the ECM. If
rpm adjustment or service is
required, please contact the Genie
Industries Service Department OR
your local Ford dealer.
Gasoline/LPG models
Low idle
High idle
Diesel models:
This procedure will require two
people.
1 Connect a tachometer to the engine. Start the
engine from the ground controls.
Result: Low idle should be 1500 rpm for Deutz
models, 1600 rpm for Perkins models.

Skip to step 4 if the low idle rpm is correct.
2 Loosen the low idle lock nut and turn the low
idle adjustment screw clockwise to increase the
rpm, or counterclockwise to decrease the rpm.
Tighten the low idle lock nut and confirm the
rpm.
1600 rpm
3 Move the function enable toggle switch to the
high idle (rabbit symbol) position.
2500 rpm
Result: High idle should be 2300 rpm for Deutz
models, 2200 rpm for Perkins models.
If high idle rpm is correct, disregard
adjustment step 4.
