Foot Switch

How to Test the Foot Switch
Perform this procedure with the
key switch in the
1 Remove the foot switch cover plate fasteners
from the platform.
2 Remove the foot switch guard mounting
fasteners from the platform.
3 Remove the foot switch mounting fasteners that
attach the foot switch to the foot switch guard.
4 Remove the cover plate from the bottom of the
foot switch to access the foot switch wire
terminals.
5 Do not press down the foot switch. Connect the
leads from an ohmmeter or continuity tester to
each wire combination listed below and check
for continuity.
Test
red to black
red to white
black to white

6 Press down the foot switch. Connect the leads

red to black
position.
OFF
red to white
black to white
Desired result
continuity
(zero Ω)
no continuity
(infinite Ω)
no continuity
