Upgrading the Software Using a PC

About this task
This section describes how to upgrade the software running on the XT Codec Unit by downloading the
upgrade package to a computer in the network. If your network is configured so that only specified PCs
can remotely manage the Scopia XT Endpoint for IP Office, make sure to download the upgrade
package to this computer.
Before you begin
• If you upgrade to a major version, ensure you have a new license key (for details, see
the Scopia XT Endpoint for IP Office to Obtain a License Key
• Verify that this PC is allowed to remotely manage this Scopia XT Endpoint for IP Office. By default,
all PCs in a network can remotely manage the Scopia XT Endpoint for IP Office. See
Remote Management on the Scopia XT Endpoint for IP Office
• Enable the remote upgrade as described in
Administrator Guide for Scopia XT5000 Endpoint with Embedded
Server for IP Office Version 3.2

Download Configure whether to allow remotely downloading firmware or

Description
• Select Yes to enable remote downloads to the XT Endpoint.
• Select No to disable remote downloads to the XT Endpoint.
• Select Yes to enable access to XT Endpoint from any IP
address in a network.
• Select No to allow access to specified computers only. If
selected, you must also configure the Address and SubNet
mask as described below.
