S t a r t e r P e r f o r m a n c e T e s t
1. Disconnect the wire f r o m the M t e r m i n a l .
2. Make a connection as s h o w n using as heavy a w i r e
as possible (preferably equivalent to the wire used
for the vehicle). To avoid d a m a g i n g the starter,
never leave the battery connected for more than
10 seconds.
3. Connect the battery as s h o w n . Make sure you
disconnect the starter motor w i r e f r o m the solenoid.
If the starter pinion moves out, it is w o r k i n g
properly.
4. Disconnect the battery f r o m the M t e r m i n a l . If the
pinion does not retract, the hold-in coil of the
solenoid is w o r k i n g properly.
5. Disconnect the battery f r o m the starter body. If the
pinion retracts immediately, it is w o r k i n g properly.
6. Clamp the starter f i r m l y in a vise.
7. Reconnect the w i r e to the M t e r m i n a l .
8. Connect the starter to the battery as s h o w n , and
check that the m o t o r turns and keeps rotating.

9. If the electric current and m o t o r speed meet the
specifications w h e n the battery voltage is at least
11 V, the starter is w o r k i n g properly.

Electric Current: 90 A or less
Motor Speed:
1,427 rpm or more
