6.11 Parallel operation of communication interfaces
Note
Parallel operation of PROFIBUS and PROFINET
The data of isochronous applications can only be processed via one of the two interfaces IF1
or IF2 (p8815). Two parameterization options are possible if additionally the PROFINET
module CBE20 is inserted in the CU320-2 DP:
• p8839[0] = 1 and p8839[1] = 2: PROFIBUS isochronous, PROFINET cyclic
• p8839[0] = 2 and p8839[1] = 1: PROFINET isochronous, PROFIBUS cyclic
Parameters for IF2
The following parameters are responsible for the IF2, the meaning of "88xx" is identical to
"20xx" of the IF1:

Note
It is not possible in the HW Config configuration tool to represent a PROFIBUS / PROFINET
slave with two interfaces. In parallel operation, SINAMICS will therefore appear twice in the
project or in two projects although there is only one physical device.
Isochronous mode, PROFIsafe and SINAMICS Link
Isochronous applications can only be run via one of the two interfaces, IF1 or IF2. The
interface for isochronous mode is set using parameter p8815[0].
Applications with PROFIsafe can only be run via one of the two interfaces IF1 or IF2. The
interface for PROFIsafe is set using parameter p8815[1].
SINAMICS Link usually requires isochronous mode. If SINAMICS Link is running,
PROFIsafe does not work at the interface involved. In this case, PROFIsafe is possible on
the other Interface, but only without isochronous mode.
