Installing the PPD Files

You can use the LaserWriter printer driver that comes with your Macintosh
when printing from a Macintosh. However, if you use the LaserWriter driver
alone, you lose some printer specific functions. The printer specific functions can
be used by installing the PPD file.

Operating Environment

The LaserWriter printer driver for Macintosh does not come with this printer.
Use the appropriate printer driver that comes with the Macintosh operating sys-
tem you are using.

This manual describes only the settings specific for this printer. Settings actu-
ally may differ depending on the version of the LaserWriter driver you are us-
ing. See the documentation that comes with your Macintosh for details on the
LaserWriter functions.

the functions of the LaserWriter 8 printer driver.
The PPD file is not compatible with QuickDrawGX.
Installing the PPD Files
A
Start up your Macintosh.

Double-click the icon of your hard disk to open it, and then open the [Ex-
tensions] folder inside the [System Folder] by double-clicking it.

Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of your Macintosh.
The icon of the CD-ROM appears.

Double-click the CD-ROM icon.
The contents of the CD-ROM are displayed.

Double-click the [Printer Descriptions] folder of the CD-ROM, and then dou-
ble-click the folder having the appropriate language name to open it.
F
Drag the PPD file for your printer and drop it into the [Printer Descriptions]
folder located inside the [Extensions] folder on your Macintosh hard disk.
The PPD file is installed.
G
Drag the CD-ROM icon and drop it into the [Trash] to eject the CD-ROM.
This completes PPD file installation.
