Replacing Consumables

Replacing the Toner Cartridges

You should replace toner cartridges
whenever the message "Add Toner"
appears on the panel display.
The following procedure describes
how to replace the magenta toner car-
tridge. You can use the same procedure
to replace the toner cartridges for the
other toner colors as well.
R WARNING
• Do not incinerate spilled toner
or used toner. Toner dust
might ignite when exposed to
an open flame.
• Disposal can take place at our

authorized dealer or at appro-
priate collection sites.
• If you dispose of the used
toner containers yourself, dis-
pose of them according to lo-
cal regulations.
R CAUTION
• When accessing the inside of
the machine, do not touch any
sections other than those speci-
fied in this manual. If you do, it
might result in receiving a burn
or an injury.
R CAUTION
• Do not open the front cover
when the paper tray is pulled out
halfway. If you do, it might cause
a personal injury.

Important
Exposing the photoconductor unit
to light for too long can reduce its
performance. Replace the toner car-
tridge as quickly as possible.
Pull the toner cartridge out slowly
and carefully to prevent spilling of
toner.
Note
When handling toner cartridges,
never stand them up on either end
or position them upside down.
Store toner cartridges under the
conditions below.
• Temperature: 10°C to 32.5°C
(50°F to 90.5°F)
• Humidity: 20% to 80% RH (no
condensation)
Before removing a toner cartridge
from the printer, spread paper or
some other material around the area
you are working to keep toner from
making floor dirty.
Do not insert the toner cartridge
into the printer with force. If you
do, the printer might be damaged.
