8/16-bit Timer/Counter Pins

This section describes the pins, and pin block diagram of the 8/16-bit timer/counter.
8/16-bit Timer/Counter Pins
The 8/16-bit timer/counter uses the P33/EC/SCO and P34/TO/INT0 pins.
P33/EC/SCO pin
The P33/EC/SCO pin serves as a general-purpose I/O port pin (P33), timer external-clock input
pin (EC), or as peripheral control clock output pin (SCO).
EC:
P34/TO/INT0 pin
The P34/TO/INT0 pin serves as a general-purpose I/O port pin (P34), timer square wave output
pin (TO), or as external interrupt input pin (INT0).
TO:
When the external clock input (counter function) is selected (T1CR: T1CS1 and
T1CS0 = "11"
) for timer 1 in 8-bit mode or for the 16-bit timer, clock pulses input
B
to this pin are counted. To use the P33/EC/SCO pin as the EC pin, set the port
data direction register to "input port" (DDR3: bit 3 = "0") and disable SCO output
(SCGC: SCG1 and SCG0 = 00
This pin outputs a square wave when timer 1 in 8-bit mode or the 16-bit timer is
used. When square wave output is enabled (T1CR: T1OS1 and T1OS0 = other
than "00
"), the P34/TO/INT0 pin becomes an output pin automatically to serve
B
as the TO pin, regardless of the value (bit 4) in the port data direction register
(DDR3).
