New Remote Terminal Addition
To add a new Remote Terminal to the ERPS ring, complete the following:
NOTICE
These steps must be performed in this order. If not, traffic will be lost on the
ring.
1. Log on to the Remote Terminal Node.
2. Configure the ERPS interface on the new Remote Terminal.
3. From the Global Configuration prompt, type ethernet default interface erps 1/
4. Put a Manual Switch (MS) followed by a Forced Switch (FS) on one end of the span
5. Put a FS on the other end of the span.
6. Physically connect the new Remote Terminal Node to the ring.
7. Remove the FS on both nodes. From the ERPS Interface Configuration prompt, type no
System Timing Configuration for Central Office Node
To configure the system timing for the Central Office Node, complete the following:
1. From the Enable prompt, type configure terminal , and press E
2. From the Global Configuration prompt, type system-timing 1 , and press E
3. From the System‐Timing Configuration prompt, type external primary hop-count
4. From the System‐Timing Configuration prompt, type external primary priority
5. From the System‐Timing Configuration prompt, type external primary type bits-
6. From the System‐Timing Configuration prompt, type external primary quality
