NOTE
The gateway should be the router to which the interface is connected, or the
first routing hop outside of the Total Access 5000 for the interface. A static
entry for the gateway is added to the route table when the gateway is
configured, and that IP address is used as the first hop for routing on that
interface.

Provisioning the Ethernet Interface

To set the Ethernet interface for the shelf, complete the following procedure:
1. From the Enable prompt, type configure terminal , and press E
2. From the Global Configuration prompt, type interface ethernet 1/S/1 , and press
3. From the Ethernet Interface Configuration prompt, type ip address A.B.C.D
4. From the Ethernet Configuration prompt, type no shutdown , and press E
5. Type exit , and press E
6. From the Global Configuration prompt, type ip route A.B.C.D A.B.C.D A.B.C.D ,
