concurrent with this protocol. This packet header information is
defined by the Systems Network Architecture (SNA) Ethernet II
Protocol.
protocol-netBios - Using this parameter will instruct the Switch to
forward packets to this VLAN if the tag in the packet header is
concurrent with this protocol. This packet header information is
defined by the NetBIOS Protocol.
protocol-xns - Using this parameter will instruct the Switch to forward
packets to this VLAN if the tag in the packet header is concurrent
with this protocol. This packet header information is defined by the
Xerox Network Systems (XNS) Protocol.
protocol-vines - Using this parameter will instruct the Switch to
forward packets to this VLAN if the tag in the packet header is
concurrent with this protocol. This packet header information is
defined by the Banyan Virtual Intergrated Network Service (VINES)
Protocol.
protocol-ipV6 - Using this parameter will instruct the Switch to
forward packets to this VLAN if the tag in the packet header is
concurrent with this protocol. This packet header information is
defined by the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Protocol.
protocol–userDefined - Using this parameter will instruct the Switch
to forward packets to this VLAN if the tag in the packet header is
concurrent with this protocol defined by the user. This packet header
information is defined by entering the following information:
<hex 0x0-0xffff> - Specifies that the VLAN will only accept
packets with this hexadecimal 802.1Q Ethernet type value in
the packet header.
encap [ethernet | llc | snap | all] – Specifies that the Switch will
examine the octet of the packet header referring to one of the
protocols listed (Ethernet, LLC or SNAP), looking for a match
of the hexadecimal value previously entered . all will instruct
the Switch to examine the total packet header. After a match
is found, the Switch will forward the packet to this VLAN.
protocol-rarp - Using this parameter will instruct the Switch to forward
packets to this VLAN if the tag in the packet header is concurrent
with this protocol. This packet header information is defined by the
Reverse Address Resolution (RARP) Protocol.
Each VLAN name can be up to 32 characters. If the VLAN is not given a tag, it
