For example, a home-based business has a home phone connected in
parallel to the TalkSwitch unit. Remote extension 210 is set up to route
calls to the owner's cell phone. The owner lets the TalkSwitch unit answer
the phone during the day, but answers the home phone at night and on
weekends. If a family member receives a business call at night while the
owner is away, they manually transfer the call to the owner's cell phone.
To do this, they dial the transfer prefix (
beep, dial the remote extension number (210), and then hang up. The
TalkSwitch system then routes the call to the owner's cell phone.
4. Select the Clear telephone line after call transferred check box to clear the
telephone lines after the user manually transfers a call from their local
extension to a remote extension. The telephone line must have the
Transfer and Clear (Centrex/Plexar Transfer) service, and the service must
be enabled on the System Information > Telephone Lines page.
5. If a call is routed to a remote extension, the user at the remote extension
can manually transfer the call to a local extension, voice mailbox, or
another remote extension.
Select how the TalkSwitch system transfers calls from a remote extension
to a local extension. Choices are:
Allow screening of calls — When you manually transfer the call from
a remote extension, you can determine whether the user at the local
extension wants the call.
To manually perform a screened transfer from a remote extension:
i) Press
ii) Dial the local extension number.
iii) Once the TalkSwitch system connects you to the other user,
determine whether they want the call.
iv) If the other user wants the call, press
the transfer.
v) If the other user does not want the call, press
cancel the transfer. You will be reconnected to the caller.
