Setting up codec options

A codec is a method of compressing and decompressing audio signals for
communication across digital networks.
1. Click Codec Options.... The Codec Options window appears.
2. Select the codecs that your system can use. TalkSwitch supports three
standardized VoIP codecs:
G.729 (default — low bandwidth)
G.726 (better voice quality — medium bandwidth)
G.711 (best voice quality — high bandwidth)
3. Select the Preferred Codec. G.729 is the default codec, which
accommodates the maximum number of concurrent calls.
4. Set Voice Activity Detection (VAD). Choices are Enabled and Disabled.
If Voice Activity Detection (VAD) is enabled, the TalkSwitch system
analyzes the audio stream to detect the presence or absence of speech,
and to distinguish speech from background noise. VAD reduces voice
bandwidth when no speech is detected, and reduces transmission of
background noise.
