InteropMode

Enables or disables switch interoperability with switches from other manufacturers.
Synopsis
interopMode [mode]
Availability
admin
Description
Use this command to enable or disable interoperability mode for individual switches. This feature
enables other manufacturer's switches to be used in a fabric of switches.
Interoperability mode allows switches to operate in a heterogeneous fabric (a fabric containing
switches from different manufacturers). This command must be executed on all switches in the
fabric. The switch must be rebooted after changing the interoperability mode. Other manufacturers
switches may require the invocation of a command similar to interopmode.
In a heterogeneous fabric, Management server, Web Tools, Fabric Watch, and SES are available for
the switches, plus basic Zoning and QuickLoop functionality for all switches.
Interoperability is supported only for HP Brocade 2400/2800 and FC 6164 switches running Fabric
OS version a2.4.1 or later; and FC Entry Switch 8B, FC Switch 8B, and FC 16B switches running
Fabric OS version 3.0.1b or later. For information on supported manufacturers switches contact
technical support.
The following conditions are required for correct operation of a heterogeneous fabric:
Other vendor switches must have their Default Zone disabled and Operating Mode set to Open
Fabric 1.0.
The fabric topology must be set up so that a communication path exists from each switch to all
other switches in the fabric.
The maximum number of switches in a fabric is limited to 31, regardless of type.
The Domain_IDs MUST be in the inclusive range from decimal 97 (that is, 0x61) to 127 (that
is, 0x7F).
HP Brocade 2400/2800 and FC 6164 switches must be running Fabric OS version a2.4.1 or
later. FC Entry Switch 8B, FC Switch 8B, and FC 16B switches must be running Fabric OS
version 3.0.1b or later.
Interoperability mode requires the following licenses: Fabric OS, Fabric, and Zoning.
Any zone members defined using AL_PAs must be deleted using zoneMemberRemove.
Any QuickLoop zones must be deleted using the zoneRemove command.
QuickLoops defined through Zoning (using qloopCreate) must be undefined using the
qloopDelete command. Unnamed QuickLoops are supported for interoperability.
Any QL/FA zones (QuickLoop) must be deleted.
The default effective configuration is "All ports can see NO other port". It is explicitly NOT,
"All ports can see all other ports".
Each switch in the fabric must be set to interoperability mode and the above requirements met
before the fabric is booted.
The following operating restrictions apply once a heterogeneous fabric is booted:
